Enough Said Movie Review
Honestly one of the main reasons I watched this movie was because I heard of James Gandolfni's death and I felt almost obliged to watch. It may throw in some extra bias on how you take in a film but I just feel like there's something about watching someone's last movie that just makes it a different experience. Whatever it may be, I don't regret watching this movie at all. Directed by Nicole Holofcener, starring James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Enough Said was one of my favorite romances of the year. (Considering there's usually not a ton of quality romances that release every year.)
So this movie really tackles life after divorce and dealing with your children going to college. Julia played the character of Eva, a divorced middle-aged woman who spends a lot of her time working as a masseuse and taking care of her daughter who is about to fly the coop and start her college career. While at a party she meets Albert played by Gandolfini and Marianne played Catherine Keener, separately.
She quickly makes friends with Marianne and picks her up as a regular client. At first they really hit it off, but it seemed all Marianne could talk about was how horrible her last husband was. At the same time, Eva goes on a date with Albert despite the fact that she wasn't initially attracted to him at all. After a great first date her interest in him grows and they start to get to really know each other. Albert also has a daughter going away to college which serves as a great topic in which they can relate.
The chemistry between these two were great. It's not love in the cliche teenage sense, but in a very mature sense. They've both been through this before and they're just truly enjoying their time together and not really looking ahead, just enjoying the present. They're both actually pretty funny and play off each other well. Enough Said was a very enjoyable story about two people who just seem to simply match. It was good watch and it is a real shame that James Gandolfini passed away so soon. I give Enough Said a 7.5 out of 10.
